Let the good times roll

Hey Cool Kids of the Pitt MLIS Program!

Classes wearing you down? Stress levels bursting? Feeling a bit of disconnect from fellow human beings?

SCALA wants to put a stop to all that nonsense (or, at the very least, provide you with opportunities to forget about them for a couple hours).

We are forming a social committee that will organize fun outings: karaoke, bowling, miniature golf, movie nights, etc...

So we'd like to ask you, fellow students: What would you be interested in doing?

Post your ideas here!
(Anyone can post on the comments section; to post to the SCALA blog, you need a Gmail account)

You say "disconnect from fellow human beings" like that's a bad thing.

A bar, the casino, a picnic (when the weather gets better), bowling, dinner, etc. Really anything would be lovely right about now.

Ok, so I think we should settle on some dates through summer for social events.

I suggest we do a simple event in March, like maybe reserving a table somewhere and just meeting for drinks, then getting fancier for April when we figure out who's in and what dates work.

Maybe "Third Thursdays"? March 20, April 17, May 15th, June 19, July 17.

Or "Final Fridays", February 29th, March 28th, April 25th (last day of term--party night), May 30th, June 27th, July 25th.

Any other thoughts?

Third Thursdays work well for me. I like the idea of having the event on the same day each month. Easy to remember.

Good suggestion.
